Opera and Ballet

The Opera Section protects the works belonging to the following genres: operas, oratorios, similar dramatic-musical works, ballets, choreographic and similar works, even when only a part of them is used or they are used in the form of a concert. The extracts of such works, instead, fall within the Music Section’ administration.

For each of the works above identified, the Section protects the rights relating to representations in public radio and television broadcasting, and the audio or video playback, implemented with any technical support or broadcasting system.

The Opera sectionmay also, at the request of claimants, intervene for the collection of charges related to the rental of musical material(Score and orchestra parts) and critical editions of public domain works.

In General, for the author who is associated, the Lyrical Section performs:

- the granting of permits for the use of the works;

- the collection of royaltiespayable by users for the exploitation of works;

- the breakdown and subsequent clearance of revenue collected by those entitled on the basis of the actual use of their works.
